Geneforge 2 Map

The Drypeak Mountains is a region of Terrestia where the events of Geneforge 2 take place. It was originally a barren zone, but Barzahl illegaly used its shaping powers to create vegetation. Thus, at the start of Geneforge 2, the Drypeak Mountains are partly barren and partly vegetated.

History[]

It is in the Drypeak Mountains that Shaper Zakary and its apprentice, Barzahl, secretly returned from Sucia Island with its secrets and serviles, with the exception of the Obeyers serviles. The two remaining servile sects, the Awakened and the Takers, then settled in the mountains. Barzahl built Rising where he led his own sect, the Barzites, while Zakary remained at the mountains' entrance, in the colony of Drypeak, in order to fool anyone who could come in the Drypeak Mountains, preventing them from finding what they did and what happened in the mountains.

After some time, however, Zakary became tired of Barzahl's illegal shaping and decided to detach himself from him. Geneforge 2 starts some time after those events.

Geography[]

In Geneforge 2, the Drypeak Mountains can be divided in four sections :

  • The south-east, where are located the passage between the Drypeak Mountains and the rest of Terrestia, and the Loyalists faction. This zone is barren.
  • The north-east, where is located the Awakened faction. This zone is vegetated.
  • The south-west, where is located the Barzites faction. This zone is mainly vegetated.
  • The north-west, where is located the Takers faction. This zone is barren.

Location[]

Although it is not said in Geneforge 2 where the Drypeak Mountains are located, indications given in Geneforge 4 and Geneforge 5 tend to show that the Drypeak Mountains are located in Southern Terrestia, between Illya Province in Southeast Terrestia and the Border Wasteland in Southwest Terrestia.

However, the map of Southeast Terrestia shows that the land west of the Turabi Gate stays green, lush and flat, indicating that Southern Terrestia might not be only made up by the Drypeak Mountains.
